Eagle Boys Pizza, an Australian pizza chain outlet in Adyar, is a pocket-friendly hangout.
Star Boys, Jolly Boys, Winner Boys… Anyone familiar with Chennai’s groups of boys who band together under such names can be forgiven for thinking that Eagle Boys is just another group of 20-something “cool guys” who live in the same area.
However, it’s a pizza chain, one from Australia at that. The only outlet in the city is in Adyar.The space is tiny, barely seating 15 people. But then again, their strong suit is meant to be home delivery, a fact that is corroborated by the phone ringing constantly with orders pouring in. It might have also had something to do with the buy-one-get-one-free offer they have on Wednesdays.
The pizza is served at just the right temperature to dig into. Aussie’s favourite chicken, a deep dish pizza, with chicken, onion, capsicum, pineapple and fresh garlic is quite delicious. The crust is soft and the sauce adds a tang to the sweetness of the canned pineapple. The Chicken Mexicana pizza is marked with two chillies on the menu. With spicy chicken, jalapenos, green chillies and ground paprika topped with a generous drizzle of hot sauce, it sets our tongues on fire, but in a good way.
With different offers through the week, Eagle Boys Pizza seems to have cemented its place as a pocket-friendly hangout for college kids craving their junk food fix: they’re the majority of the dine-in crowd. Desserts are also on offer: triple chocolate sweetzza, brownie bite and choco vanilla mousse.
Eagle Boys Pizza is located at 5/5, 1st Main Road, Kasturba Nagar, Adyar. A meal for two costs Rs. 600.
